Explore Dallas: Commerce Night Market, Movies in the Park, and 'Til Midnight at the Nasher

People tend to find their city in sections; a favorite bar or restaurant is in this neighborhood, a great band is playing in this renovated warehouse in another, and there's a free outdoor market or movie in the district 15 minutes down the road.

Because Dallas is so close, and yet so widespread (if only I could make less sense, I know) it's hard for a lot of people to get out of their bubbles and jump from one neighborhood to the other and find all of these amazing events going on. This is where the wonderful world of social media comes in. I've had some of my favorite events and explorations by pure accident from poking around on Instagram, such as these events below:

Arts District:

'Til Midnight at the Nasher: La La Land and Sarah Jaffe

'Til Midnight at the Nasher is a great, free event with a live outdoor concert with a film screening following. Doors open at 6pm, but a pro tip would be to get there with your picnic blanket a little early to get a good seat on the lawn before it fills up. It can also get pretty hot out there (even under the trees) so don't forget they offer free ice water!

You aren't able to take and food or drinks in, but you can purchase pretty tasty street tacos (pork or chicken), elotes, snacks, and booze there. If you're reaaaaallly lucky, Steel City Pops will be there, too (but it's cash only for them, so come prepared).

Downtown Dallas:

Movies in the Park at Main Street Garden is also a free event hosted by Dallas News, Downtown Dallas, Inc, and The Statler for your movie viewing pleasure. Coincidentally I'll be at the screening they're having tonight of Ferris Bueller's Day Off (be there or be square), at movies typically start at sundown. This is another great event to bring a chair or blanket, stretch out with some snacks (no booze, you can buy it there), and catch a movie with some friends or family.

West Dallas:

Hosted by Little D Markets, Commerce Street Night Market takes place the last Friday of the month from 6-10PM at the Pike West Commerce outdoor, open-air pavilion (444 W Commerce Street, Dallas, TX 75208) - if you still can't find it, it's literally right across the street from The Foundry and Chicken Scratch. CSNM is a great opportunity for vendors/artists/creators to bring their talents, creations, food and drinks to share with Dallas and encourage people to shop and support local!

Some great ways to stay in-the-know on these events and more are to follow or check in on the below accounts* on their various social media pages:

- and many more, but I'm not posting them all!

* I am in no way affiliated with any of these accounts, I just stalk them on Instagram and Facebook so I can find events to keep my life from being boring.

Now that you're all prepared and in the know, get out there and explore Dallas!
