TBT: Tay vs Kay at JOY Macarons
There's something magical about macarons. They're little colorful pockets of flavor that are gone in two seconds, are a butt to make, but fun to attempt to make anyway so you have those memories to look back on.
In my case, I'm perfectly cool with going to JOY Macarons on Lower Greenville (or their Oak Cliff location) and have someone else make them for me so I don't have to clean up the mess or pull my hair out (major props to pro mac makers, you have overcome the struggle). Joy Macarons first of all, has one of the neatest (and sometimes frustrating) doors I've seen. Yes, it opens, and yes, I forget how to actually open it on my first attempt every time I go - Clearly, I do not learn from my mistakes.
Imagine my surprise when I walked in and BOOM, I look down and two faces are staring back at me. It was a battle, and there could only be one winner...
Bad Blood v. California Girls. ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE?!?
Clearly I could go straight off and pic the face on the macaron whose music I like better. Or who isn't a whack job in "real life". But there were also flavors to consider: TSwift with her vanilla bean, and Katy Kat with her cotton candy.
Tough decisions, y'all.
At the end of the day, I only walked out and devoured one face. And let me tell you, that vanilla bean macaron left anything but a Blank Space.
Super cheesy, I know. Don't worry, you'll Shake it Off. (Last one, I swear)
I highly recommend when you visit - and you really should - to get at least three of these lovelies (the regular macs, because TSwift and Katy Kat are long gone since this is a TBT) since they're kind of like Pringles: Once you pop you can't stop!
Here are some ways you can get your stalk on for JOY Macarons:
